Ryland is a creator, founder and outdoorsman who lives with an infectious positive attitude and an internal drive to create meaningful change in the world. He loves collaborating with others to bring ideas to fruition using his data-driven mindset and empathy-based leadership.
Back in college he could be found biking around town from meeting to meeting founding a nonprofit, Sprout Up, from which he raised over $175,000 and was awarded Forbes Top 12 Do Good Entreprenuers Under 25.
In 2013, he helped found Square’s Dispute Resolutions team partnering with financial institutions to ship a tool that saved the company $10M/yr in disputed transactions. While at Square, he also led a small team in creating an internal product, Square Gives, that took first place at the company's annual hack week and since has donated over $250,000 to the San Francisco Food Bank without costing the company a penny.
Over the past few years, he created a financial indepedence coaching program leading dozens of clients through a $1200, 6-month long coaching program transforming their lives from financial disarry to financial stability and upward trajectory.
And more recently, he taught himself to code and built Surf Trip List — the world's most hated surf site. The site offers insider information about +1,000 surf spots around the world as well as membership access to deluxe surf camps and cheap flight alerts that have saved dozens of surfers $400+ on their annual surf vacation.
Today, Ryland still rides his bike everyday to work helping Lyft build cities around people not cars. In his first three months as an account executive, he's shipped a self-onboarding web app that alerts business associates of hot leads to contact; he's condensed 3 spreadsheets with 1.7+ million rows into a searchable web app; and he's created professional product video tutorials all to increase revenue and decrease wasted time.
